An all-day picnic held on the River Bend School grounds on Friday, July 9th was the concluding feature of a series of farmers meetings, which began in the River Bend School last September.

Most of the chicken served at the picnic was barbecued by the farmers and their wives down on the river bank. Ice cream and lemonade, also made on the river bank, had a major place on the menu for the day. Swimming and boat riding were engaged in by young and old, of both sexes and afforded a splendid means of keeping cool.

The picnic was the first of its kind to be held in the community and was supervised by James Cooper, Agricultural teacher, who has been conducting the evening school with the farmers in River Bend.
