HANCEVILLE, Ala. – After routing Curry on the road a week ago, the Bulldogs returned to Ray Talley Stadium Friday night for a regional showdown with Midfield. The Patriots managed to find the end zone early and kept Hanceville’s offense in check on their way to a 36-12 region win.
Midfield went up 6-0 early in the opening quarter and quickly got on the scoreboard again to make it a 12-0 game by the start of the second. After a scoreless second quarter, the Patriots carried a 12-0 advantage into the locker room at the half.
Midfield tacked on two quick scores in the third quarter to jump out to a 28-0 lead and take control of the game early in the second half. Bo Joles punched one in from short yardage to cut the lead to 28-6 at the start of the fourth quarter and he later connected with Brodie Malcom for a 30-yard touchdown strike, but it was too little, too late and the Patriots were able to hold and win it over Hanceville 36-12.
The loss makes the Bulldogs 3-4 on the season with a bye week coming next week and a road trip to Fultondale coming up Oct. 18.
