CULLMAN, Ala. – Oktoberfest 2019 got underway Wednesday evening with the tapping of the kegs, transfer of the title of Burgermeister from 2018’s Ben Harrison to Steve Moore, and the naming of Hanna Hancock as Miss Oktoberfest 2019. A senior at Good Hope High School, Hancock plans to attend Wallace State to study occupational therapy.

Earlier this year, she was the “Be Your Best Self” essay winner and took the Spirit Award in the Cullman County Distinguished Young Women program.

Hancock found the magic chocolate pudding cupcake Wednesday to claim the Miss Oktoberfest title over eight other candidates:

Raven Aldredge – Holly Pond High School

Josey Brown – Hanceville High School

Lauren Grace Evans – Cullman High School

Alison Gongre – St. Bernard Prep School

Alisha Grimmett – Fairview High School

Emilee Beth Harbison – Cold Springs High School

Miriam Oldacre – West Point High School

Bailey Preiss – Vinemont High School

Hancock will meet most of her fellow candidates again in less than a week in The Tribune-sponsored Miss Cullman County Fair Queen Pageant Tuesday, Oct. 8.
