Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Newton are building a new home in the city at Fourth Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenue East, near Harry Parker.
Guy Bennett has announced that he will open a new Goodrich Service Store, opposite Yost’s Store for tires and automobile accessories.
The Stamps Quartet will be in concert at Trimble Methodist Church on Friday night.
J. Irvin Sinyard is the new manager of Carl’s Sinclair Service Station.
Reverend Everett Calvert will conduct a revival at Vinemont Baptist Church beginning on July 18th.
Countywide officers of the Home Demonstration Clubs for next year are: Geneva Knipher, of Enon, President; Mrs. Will Wenzel, of Bolte, Secretary and Mrs. I.C. Mauldin, of Flat Rock, Treasurer.
The current estimated population of the City of Cullman is 4,608.
Bert Cummings, of Bremen, is now working in the timber business with the Creel Brothers.

Friends of Miss Madeline Ponder will be grieved to learn of her death, which occurred on July 11th, in the Cullman Hospital, after a lingering illness. She was 26 years, 7 months and 3 days of age.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Ponder, of Hanceville; three brothers and two sisters, Hoyett, of Fort Payne, Melvin, Lila Belle, Margaret and Woodrow, of Hanceville and a host of relatives and friends.
She was a graduate of the Cullman County High School of the Class of 1930. Madeline was a devoted Christian and took an active part in church work. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church for many years.
She was loved by everyone who knew her.

Tuesday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Tidwell were Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Tidwell, of Gadsden.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allgood were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bailes and Mr. and Mrs. Troy Lawrence.
Gus Washburn, of Jasper, Tennessee spent the weekend with relatives.
Mrs. Harless McCain, of Wedowee, spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vincent, of Garden City and Mrs. Alvin Edwards, of Cullman.
Victor Edwards, of Los Angeles, California visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Edwards, last week. Mr. Edwards was twice mayor of Garden City.
Doctor and Mrs. Allen Price and small daughter, Ann, of Birmingham, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Price, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Wednesday guest of Mr. and Mrs. B.D. McKenzie was Hugh Cox, of Anniston.
Mr. and Ms. J.B. Huie spent Friday afternoon, at Tanner, guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Sprecher.
Last Sunday spend-the-day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Chaney were their daughters, Mrs. Charles Cutts and Mr. Cutts, of Homewood and Mrs. Douglas Watson, Mr. Watson and small daughter, Patty Joyce, of Pensacola, Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Vester Gamble were in Birmingham on Saturday night to be with Mrs. Gamble’s mother, Mrs. J.H. Reid, of Hayden, who is very ill, at Norwood Hospital. Mrs. Reid was injured on Thursday when she fell from a moving truck.
Roy Howard Russell, 68, of Route Eight, Cullman was found dead at his home on Wednesday morning, a victim of his own hand.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna Russell; one son, Jasper Russell; one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Vanzandt; three grandchildren and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. this afternoon, at Welti, with Reverend Joe Huffman officiating and Moss Service directing interment.
