FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Cold Springs Lady Eagles and Holly Pond Lady Broncos traveled to Fairview Monday afternoon to highlight Monday’s local volleyball action and the home-standing Lady Aggies swept the tri-match. Fairview topped Holly Pond 2-0 to kick things and the Lady Eagles were able to topple the Lady Broncos 2-0 as well. In the final match of Monday’s event, the Lady Aggies defeated Cold Springs 2-0 to continue a strong September run.
Fairview 2 – Holly Pond 0 (25-12, 25-20)
Fairview took down Holly Pond in two sets Monday night to get the tri-match started and several Lady Aggies put together impressive performances in the win.
Micah Means collected a team-high 24 assists to go along with three digs and Daisy Manasco posted 13 kills, five digs and five blocks in the win. Katie Ball finished with eight kills and three digs for the Lady Aggies and Isabella McGukin added four blocks and two digs as well.
Cold Springs 2 – Holly Pond 0 (25-20, 25-18)
The first set was a tight, back-and-forth matchup between Cold Springs and Holly Pond, but the Lady Broncos managed to take a 15-13 lead midway through the set. The Lady Eagles tied things up at 16 before taking a 19-17 lead. Holly Pond was able to cut the lead to 20-19 but Cold Springs managed to pull away and take the opening set 25-20.
The Lady Broncos jumped out to a 3-1 start in the second set, but the Lady Eagles bounced back to tie it up at 4 and eventually build a 12-6 lead. The run continued for Cold Springs as it stretched its lead to 21-9 and despite a late push from Holly Pond, was able to pull away and take the match with a 25-18.
Cold Springs’ Emi Harbison finished the match with a team-high 20 assists to go with two kills, a block and a dig and AK Voce led the Lady Eagles with 12 kills and nine digs. Kylon Hamby posted three aces, six kills, three digs and an assist and Emma Chambers collected two digs, two kills, an ace, an assist and a block in the win.
Fairview 2 – Cold Springs 0 (25-14, 25-18)
The Lady Aggies jumped in front 12-6 early in Monday night’s final match and quickly stretched that lead to 16-7 midway through the first set. Cold Springs was able to cut the lead to 18-12 at one point but Fairview began to pull away after that and took the opening set 25-14.
The Lady Eagles found themselves down 3-1 at the start of the second set with the Lady Aggies but bounced back to take a 4-3 lead. Fairview was able to move back in front 10-7 and used a small scoring run to build a 15-9 advantage. Cold Springs cut the lead to 18-13 later in the set but the Lady Aggies finished strong once again to take the second set 25-18 and the match 2-0.
Ball racked up 10 kills, seven digs, an ace and a block in the match and Means added another 18 assists for Fairview. Manasco posted six kills and two aces, McGukin added two kills, a pair of digs and a block and Jacy Gorham finished with four blocks in the win for the Lady Aggies.
Morgan Harris collected six kills, three blocks and a dig for the Lady Eagles and Harbison finished with a team-high 12 assists to go with a pair of blocks. Hamby posted three kills, an ace and a dig and Voce had four digs, a kill and an ace in the loss.
Fairview and Holly Pond will travel to Priceville and Ashville respectively on Tuesday and Cold Springs will be back in action when it hosts Southeastern Thursday.
