CULLMAN, Ala. – In August 2018, Cullman Regional debuted its da Vinci Xi Surgical System with the goal of improving the community’s access to minimally-invasive surgery. Now, a little more than a year later, the hospital celebrated a milestone by completing more than 150 robotic surgeries. The da Vinci Xi system, locally known as “Leo,” provides minimally-invasive surgical options for patients who have prostate, kidney, bladder or colon cancer, as well as for those in need of hernia repair, bariatric surgery or gynecological procedures. Benefits of robotic surgery include less pain, reduced scarring and quicker recovery times for patients.
