PREP VOLLEYBALL: West Point wins Bronze Bracket at Labor Day Classic

FOLEY, Ala. – The West Point Lady Warriors made the trip to Foley for this year’s Labor Day Classic over the weekend and after two days of pool and bracket play, the Lady Warriors finished as champions of the tournament’s bronze bracket. West Point defeated UMS Wright in the Bronze Championship Match 25-13 and 27-25 to take the title.

Day one: The Lady Warriors got started on Friday afternoon with a matchup against Pensacola and fell in two sets. West Point bounced back in it’s second match of the day, defeating 7A Foley in two sets.

Day one Individual statistics

Lexi Shadix – 14 kills, three aces and two blocks
Molly Pendley – six aces, five kills and seven digs
Braelee Quinn – six aces and 8 kills
Makenzie Carter – four kills, four aces and one dig
Gracie Thompson – 14 assists

Day two: West Point returned to the floor Saturday morning to take on the third-ranked team in 5A, Faith Academy. The Lady Warriors fell in a tight match 23-25, 25-18, 13-15 to wrap up pool play and enter the bronze bracket. They started by knocking off Hillcrest Tuscaloosa 21-25, 25-21, 15-6 and moved on to defeat Cottage Hill in three sets as well to advance to the championship match against UMS Wright. West Point won in two sets, 25-13 and 27-25, to finish as the champions of the bracket and return home with some hardware.

Lexi Shadix – 32 kills, 12 blocks, eight digs and four aces

Braelee Quinn – 20 kills, 17 digs and six aces

Molly Pendley – 16 aces, 15 kills, 15 digs and three assists

Gracie Thompson – 36 assists, 11 digs and three aces

Kyla Kilpatrick – 22 assists, eight digs, four aces and two kills

Kayla Kilpatrick – 16 digs, three aces and as assist

Sydney Sellers – Six blocks, three kills and a dig

Ryleigh Jones – Four assists, two kills and a dig

Sasha Hunter – Eight assists, two kills and two digs

The Lady Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face Holly Pond.
