Helton Rites Held
Mrs. Della Helton, age 60, of Cullman, Route Three, died on May 10th. Funeral services were held on May 11th, at Welti, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend A.H. Akers officiating and Drinkard in charge. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Annie McCardy, Mrs. Lila Norman and Mrs. Velma Bowman and three brothers, Amos, Brooklyn and Lon Helton.
Johnie Chalmus Shaddrix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jethro Shaddrix, Route One, Steppville, was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, last week, at the Birmingham recruiting station in room 220 Clark Building, there and transferred to the Marine Corps recruit depot at Parris Island, South Carolina, for six weeks training before being assigned to duty on one of the permanent stations of the Marine Corps.

The party given by Nellie Dean Howse on Saturday night was enjoyed by all who attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Duard Norris and Mrs. Wilmer Smith and children, Barbara June and Jerrie Sue, visited their mother, Mrs. G.W. Turner, this weekend.

A large crowd attended the decoration at Rock Springs on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. J.L. McCutcheon and daughter, Emma Lore, of Crane Hill, were the Saturday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Williams.
Mrs. Richard Mount and children, Hazel, Kenneth and Jo Ellen are visiting relatives in Guntersville.
Miss Leona McMurray was the Tuesday night guest of Miss Wanda Neal.
Mr. and Mrs. Hulin Williams and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dee Boyd and family, of near Hanceville, attended the Decoration at Rock Springs, on Sunday.
Mr. Hoyt Neal, of Pleasant View spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Neal.
Mr. J.W. Little, Misses Cathelene Little and Martha Lois Bradford attended the Decoration here on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Smith, of Selfville, were the weekend guests of their mother, Mrs. Elizabeth McCutcheon.
Martha C. Glasscock, 74, of Cullman, Route Eight, died at her home on May 11th. Burial and funeral services were held at Duck River Church on May 12th, at 2 o’clock with Drinkard in charge.
Mrs. Letha Nichols, 32, of Bangor, Route One, died at her home on May 10th. Funeral services were held on May 12th at Anon Cemetery with Reverend J.A. Gilliland officiating and Drinkard in charge.
A large crowd attended the decoration at the West Berlin Cemetery, on Sunday. Oak Level and Berlin communities combined to present an appropriate “Mother’s Day” program.
Miss Aileen Parrish, after spending the weekend at her home in Berlin, left Sunday afternoon for Montevallo, where she will resume her studies.

There was a large crowd at the singing and decoration here on Sunday.
Miss Iantha Talley and Stella Mae Chapman spent Sunday with Misses Marie and Geneva Johnson.
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Johnson and sons, Robert and Charles, of Crane Hill, spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Johnson and family.
