CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Animal Shelter volunteer Donna Ruttkay shares The Cullman Tribune’s Pet of the Week:
Spencer is a 1-year-old hound mix. He’s a laid-back, low- to medium-energy pet who’s submissive to his humans, savvy with leash etiquette and just enjoys being with people. He loves playing with doggie toys, and, if you like water, so does he; the kiddie pool is among his favorite stops on the shelter grounds.
Ruttkay called Spencer “just a swell guy” who “never meets a stranger.”
Spencer has the makings of a good companion, emotional support, therapy or reading dog.
Doggie to go!
Folks usually have to wait after adopting for their pups to be neutered, but the shelter had Spencer neutered ahead of time so he would be available for last week’s 2nd Fridays downtown celebration. He was not adopted at that event, but that just means he’s ready to go now. You will still have to pay the neutering fee, but you can take him home with you the same day!
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Spencer’s adoption fee is $90 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
