CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Tribune has moved from three days a week to five, starting today, Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, and Publisher Noah Galilee is excited about the benefits the expansion will bring to Tribune readers.
“Residents will now be receiving five days of great, local content along with quality photos and special sections each week. More days means more news, which means a better-informed public.”
When Galilee and his business partner Dustin Isom acquired The Tribune in 2016, their plan was to push the once per week publication up to five days.
“Now we’ve done that and will be offering up incredibly low prices for local news: no Associated Press content. The decision was not a difficult one to make as it was in the original designs when Dustin and I launched CullmanSense in January 2011. The plan has always been there; I just didn’t show my hand until recently.”
One of the things Galilee is excited about is the ability to offer a more cost-effective product to Cullman-area residents.
“Moving to a Tuesday through Saturday print format will give our readers more local news, offered up five days per week in print and daily online, while providing a low-cost, five-day subscription.”
New rates are: $100 inside Cullman County, $125 outside Cullman County and $225 out of state (Current subscribers will not see a rate increase until their subscriptions are up for renewal).
“I believe, as we’ve recently seen, the readership will continue to climb, which in turn will allow us to hire additional reporters, editors and in the very near future – home delivery drivers,” said Galilee. “Yes, we are looking at taking The Cullman Tribune off the mailing system, so you can have the paper in the morning, as opposed to midday or afternoon. We understand it’s important to have the latest news available and moving to the Tuesday through Saturday format will allow us to do just that while continuing to offer the only local news website that is free to view.”
Galilee was emphatic in his appreciation for The Tribune’s readers.
“Thank you to all of our readers who’ve stood by us from the beginning to now. We never would have made it out of the backroom if it weren’t for all of you, so thank you! While The Cullman Tribune may be the oldest business and newspaper in the region, it’s important to remember since April 1, 2016 it has had a major overhaul and is now an Alabama Press Association award-winning publication. Now, the fun begins!”
