Obituary: Anna Sue Dean

Funeral services for Anna Sue Dean, 90, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Bussman and Pastor Christopher Clark officiating, interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Dean passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at Falkville Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 4, 1928 in Cullman to Alfred B. and Anna Allison Glaser. 

She retired after 36 years as a Linotype Operator and Printer from the Birmingham News, beginning the trade at The Cullman Tribune at the age of 14. She was a member of the Communications Workers of America/International Typographical Union and Birmingham Typographical Union 104 and was a member of the Cullman German Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, W. Eugene Bowden, George L. McBee and Sam F. Dunn; daughter, Suzanne B. Sammons; brothers, Alfred R. and Edward C. Glaser; and sisters, Ruth Reid and Rosa E. Lee.

Survivors include son-in-law, Ronnie W. Sammons; grandson, R. Barry Sammons; granddaughter, Melissa Sue Sammons-Gudis; sisters, Esther Kidd Williams and Marjorie F. Kreps; stepdaughter, Sammy Dean Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
