SIMCOE, Ala. – A Sunday afternoon wreck in Simcoe had Gold Ridge firefighters working hard, and led to the medical transport of three injury victims. The accident involved two small cars, reportedly a Kia Soul and a Honda of unknown model, at the intersection of Alabama State Route 69 and County Road 747.
Gold Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jerad Guthrie told The Tribune that one vehicle struck the other in the intersection and sent it off the road into the parking lot of a business at the intersection, where it struck another vehicle.
Contrary to circulating rumors of four injuries, Guthrie placed the number of injuries at three. According to the Chief, the driver of the Kia had to be extricated by the Gold Ridge VFD team. One victim was initially reported as being airlifted to Huntsville but according to family the person was taken to UAB Hosptial, and two were transported by ground from the scene.
