Services for Mr. Randall Louis Barnes, 61, of Battleground are 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Cullman Funeral Home, Rev. Danny Shockley and Chuck Johnston officiating, with interment in Corinth West Cemetery. Visitation on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mr. Barnes passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Randy was born Aug. 14, 1957 in Chicago to Dorothy and Herb Barnes while Herb was working there.  They moved to Holly Pond when Randy was 9 years old.  It did not take long for him to learn that in the South you drink cokes not pops.  Randy graduated from Holly Pond High School in 1975 and attended the Cullman Area Vocation School for four years.  At 19 he met and married Chiquita Burden in 1976.  In 1977 he joined the Alabama National Guard and served for 13 years. He started working as a diesel mechanic with Cummins in 1977 and for the last 17 years was employed by Truckpro.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Higginbotham.

He is survived by his wife, Chiquita Barnes; father, Herbert Barnes; sons, Joshua Barnes, Benjamin Barnes and Scott Barnes; brothers, Steve (Betty) Barnes and Brian Barnes; grandson, Jareth Nix; nephews, Matthew Barnes and Justin Barnes, nieces, Valerie Barnes and Nicole Willingham; sister-in-law, Patina Bright; brother-in-law, Stewart (Renda) Burden; uncles, Loyd Smith, Ray Smith, Guy Smith and Tommy Barnes; stepfather, Jessie Higginbotham and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Jeff Kanaday, John Schafer, Rick Schafer, Gary Francis, Gerald Echols and Ray Echols.
