Obituary: Paul Lackey

It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Franklin Lackey announces his passing on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the age of 92 years old. Mr. Lackey is a U.S. veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He served for over 30 years in the Army in active and reserves. During WWII he served with Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force, under the command of U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He later was secretary/treasurer for SHAEF Veteran’s Association. He retired from civil service in 1982. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Franklin and Effie Mae Love Lackey; son Paul Mitchell Lackey; sisters Doris L. Moon and Sarah L. Kleinmetz and brothers William H., James K., Wayne S. and Ollie R. Lackey.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Jean Sparks Lackey; daughters Paulette Lackey (Riley) Trimble and Donna Lackey (Jerry F.) Hendrix; grandchildren Jamie Trimble Oliver, Riley O. Trimble, III, Eli (Sabrina) Trimble and Sara Hendrix McClendon and 8 great grandchildren. Special thanks to his caregiver and loving friend, Starla Metcalf and the Folsom Center.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Moss Service Funeral Home from noon until 2 p.m. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be in the chapel of the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jaina Glaze and Rev. David Palmer officiating. Burial will immediately follow at East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Riley Trimble, III, Eli Trimble, Austin Oliver, Keaton Oliver, Jeff Hanson, Lance Roberson, Ed Roberson and Dr. Mark McClendon.
