BROOKLYN COMMUNITY, Ala. – One person was killed as a result of a single-vehicle wreck just before 1 p.m. Saturday in the Brooklyn community near Baileyton. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick confirmed the fatality.
Alabama State Troopers identified the victim as Nick Alexander Smith, 46, of Cullman.
Troopers said Smith was injured when the 1999 GMC Suburban he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Smith, who was not using a seat belt, was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The incident occurred in the 1900 block of County Road 1693.
Troopers continue to investigate the crash, and nothing further is available.
