CULLMAN, Ala. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Clarksville (Tennessee) Police Department are asking for the public’s help in their ongoing investigation of truck driver Roy Michel Nellsch, 62, of Logan, Alabama.
According to the TBI, law enforcement officers arrested Nellsch May 22 and charged him with one count of especially aggravated kidnapping following a violent interaction earlier that day with a Clarksville woman, from which she was able to escape. Nellsch was put into the custody of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on a $500,000 bond.
The TBI said authorities have reason to believe Nellsch might be connected to more crimes with additional victims.
The TBI confirmed to The Tribune’s Birmingham media partner, WVTM 13, that TBI agents executed a search warrant at Nellsch’s home in Logan Wednesday, saying in a message, “We have had agents at 6081 County Road 940 in Logan, AL today on the execution of a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. As this remains a very active and open investigation, we’re not able to provide any specifics at this stage.”
A spokesman for the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said the CCSO assisted in the search, but that it is the TBI’s case. The spokesman said Nellsch remains in custody in Tennessee.
