Ella “Odell” Elrod, 93, passed away peacefully in her home in the Walter community surrounded by her family on June 2, 2019.
She was affectionately known as Maw Maw. She was born Jan. 2, 1926 in Blountsville Alabama to Lon and Nancy New. She met and married Roy Wesley Elrod. They were married in 1943 and was married for 70 years until his death in 2009. They raised five children in that community.
Throughout her life Odell was a caring and loving mother and neighbor always ready to call and visit those in need with encouragement and something special from her kitchen. Her passion was her family, her home and her Lord. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roy, infant son Garry Elrod.
Funeral services are Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lane Howard officiating. Interment will be in Duck River Cemetery.
She is survived by her five children: Larry (Linda) Elrod, Gary (Lisa) Elrod, Sharon (Junior) Burnham, Keith Elrod, Tony (Kelly) Elrod, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, step daughter Yvonne Boone, stepson Ishmil Elrod, three step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, one step great great grandchild.
Those lives who Odell touched and family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home.
