After playing to a 0-0 tie in the JV action, Good Hope’s varsity squad dominated Danville on both sides of the ball as they got rushing touchdowns from Colton Bagwell, Ethan Anderson and Drew Maddox. Vinemont’s JV squad got on the scoreboard first behind the great running of Ayden Thomason as he finished off their drive with a three-yard scamper. The Eagles’ varsity team added on to its lead as Dallin Dinkle got a 15-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0, then he added a one-yard score later on in the game. Dalton Whithead broke free for a 40-yard score to put the final score at 28-0. Lucas Miller had an interception on defense for the Eagles, who didn’t let Danville get anything going offensively.

Vinemont 15 – Good Hope 13

After stopping Good Hope on its opening drive, Vinemont’s Kylan Richards found the end zone on the first play of the drive with a 50-yard touchdown run that put the Eagles on the scoreboard first. When the varsity squads hit the field, Vinemont fumbled the ball and Good Hope’s John King recovered it. After both teams punted the ball on their next possessions, the Raiders’ Jager Burns found Ethan Anderson for a huge third-down conversion, then on the next play, Drew Maddox broke free down the left sideline for a 57-yard touchdown run to tie the game up at seven.

Vinemont, though, broke the tie on the first play of their next drive as Teague Whatley found a hole on the left sideline and wasn’t going to be denied and his 80-yard run gave the Eagles a 15-7 lead. After back-to-back punts, Good Hope used the legs of Bagwell, Drew Maddox, and Burns to get down the field and a 31-yard scamper by Burns put them in business. Bagwell later found the end zone on a one-yard run to make it a 15-13 score after the failed two-point conversion but Vinemont got a huge stop on fourth down on Good Hope’s final possession of the game as the Eagles went on to take the game 15-13.
