CULLMAN, Ala. – After success with “The Music Man” last summer, the revived Cullman Community Theatre (CCT) is ready to crank things up again with another large-cast, crowd-pleasing classic.

CCT Director Wayne Cook shared: “We are excited to announce the beginning of the summer show season with CCT planning to put together the classic hit ‘Oklahoma!’  Licensing a show is a difficult process at first; you have to make sure the rights are available and that the show fits your cast and your community. This show does all of that. We are expecting to be able to use all ages to make this show happen which adds up to a good community show.”

Why “Oklahoma!?

Said Cook, “First of all we had to go through a list of shows that did not fit or were not available. This takes time once the venue is determined.  We finally agreed as a team that ‘Oklahoma!’ offered the size cast we needed to involve a bunch of people. We also think the musical will draw a crowd due to the popularity of the production. We hope Cullman will embrace this show and come out to participate as we continue to grow community theatre.”

Actors, singers and crew needed

CCT is seeking a large cast and crew, and auditions are open to all ages. The first round of auditions is this coming Monday and Tuesday, May 20 and 21, at the Cullman Civic Center starting at 6 p.m. After those auditions are completed, directors will determine if additional callbacks or auditions are needed.

Cook added, “Please come by if you are in the least bit interested and find out more. We need all talents, including those who sew and build sets. We need actors, singers, dancers, technicians and much much, more. Please give CCT a try!”
