CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Animal Shelter volunteer Donna Ruttkay introduces The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week.
Cedar is a fairly big dog with beautiful coloration, a Catahoula with maybe even a little Great Dane, who’s almost a year old. As big and young as he is, he’s a really laid-back, low-energy pup who is thoroughly submissive toward his human friends, skillful on his leash and good around other dogs. He’s respectful of boundaries, too, and won’t be all over you. He could make a wonderful companion animal: emotional support, reading, maybe even a therapy dog.
Ruttkay said, “This over-sized fellow is a keeper! Cannot say enough wonderful things about him.”
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Cedar’s adoption fee is $90 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).
