BREMEN, Ala. – “I have a message today from Bremen, Alabama to the entire globe- rural Alabama is open for business!” exclaimed Gov. Kay Ivey during a visit to Cullman County Tuesday afternoon to celebrate AGCO bringing its Farmer Automatic Production Line to Bremen. The $5.7 million investment will create 50 new jobs. In addition to the new Farmer Automatic Production Line moving to Alabama from Germany, AGCO, under its brand name GSI,  is also celebrating 10 successful years in Cullman County.

The announcement and ribbon cutting were attended by several special guests including Hans Lehmann, vice president and general manager of AGCO Grain and Protein North and South America and Sen. Garlan Gudger Jr., R-Cullman. Upon arrival, Ivey was greeted by Cullman County Economic Development Agency Director Dale Greer.

Greer said of the project, “We are very fortunate to be able to work with our state and county leadership to keep a great company growing in Cullman County. It’s a big advantage to have the ability to ensure companies succeed in the rural parts of the county the same way they succeed in more urban areas.”

An enthusiastic Ivey addressed the crowd, “Folks, today, alongside Cullman County, the entire state of Alabama takes yet another step forward. When we talk about building on our successes and momentum in Alabama, THIS IS HOW IT’S DONE. We share with companies our unparalleled workforce. We create a friendly business climate, which fosters success and growth. We show companies that when they choose to be Made in Alabama, they can expect excellence.”

To demonstrate the pride in Made in Alabama, the staff of AGCO welcomed Ivey and guests with new shirts bearing the phrase “Made in Alabama.”

Ivey continued, “Today, when we cut the ribbon on AGCO’s new Farmer Automatic Production Line, we’re celebrating even more than just a $5.7 million-dollar investment. We’re celebrating 50 more Alabamians earning a wage. We’re celebrating the production line now being Made in America and Made in Alabama, We’re celebrating the fact that companies can, indeed, thrive in rural Alabama.”

The new production line in expected to be open this summer. AGCO is a manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment with locations throughout the world. AGCO moved to Bremen in 2009 and is celebrating 10 years without a work-stop accident.

Lehmann said of the safety record, “The fact that we’ve not had one lost time safety incident speaks volumes of the quality of the workforce in this county.”

Greer credits the cooperation between Cullman City and Cullman County, their industrial boards and economic development agencies along with Ivey, her team, Alabama Department of Commerce Director of Business Development Ted Clem, Kristi Bain at AIDT and Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) Director Kenneth Boswell for making the project a success.

Said Greer, “We ignore city/county lines and focus on winning.”
