CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department, along with Cullman Cosmetic and Family Dentistry and WDJC, hosted its annual free community cookout Friday at the Festhalle. It was the fourth year for the event, the goal of which is to give the community an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon while getting to know the city’s police officers.

CPD Sgt. Adam Clark coordinated this year’s cookout, with Freddie Day Catering providing the barbecue while Sgt. Todd Craig grilled hot dogs.

Clark thanked Cullman Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, saying, “We couldn’t do this without them and their sponsorship.”

In past years, the cookouts have seen an annual turnout of around 400-500 people.

“This is just something we do to keep in touch with the public and make sure that they see us in a positive light. A chance to get out and mingle with everybody and talk to them,” Clark said. “We are here to help everybody and take care of everybody and we appreciate our community. This is just a way to give back to our community. It’s fun. It’s just a fun day.”

Cullman Cosmetic and Family Dentistry closed its office to make sure everyone could enjoy the afternoon, with Office Manager Rida Poston sharing, “We love it. It’s just a good way for people to interact with the police under good circumstances and get that feeling rather than when people have had a wreck or are in trouble.”

The dentist office brought free toothbrushes for both kids and adults.
