CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Animal Shelter volunteer Donna Ruttkay introduces The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:
Ginger is a fairly big dog, a German shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix who’s around 2 years of age. She’s a gentle giant: a low- to medium-energy pet with what Ruttkay describes as “a soft heart.” She could make a good therapy, support or companion dog. She’s great on a leash and likes hanging out with people, but she respects personal space and won’t try to put that big dog body in your lap!
Ginger will be loyal to her humans, but she’s accustomed to exclusive relationships. She will, according to shelter staff, thrive best in a one-dog family. She has lived inside before and seems to be house-trained well.
Discount doggie!
Ginger had already been spayed when she was brought to the shelter, so her adoption fee will be drastically discounted to only $5 to cover the cost of her rabies vaccine.
Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.
Please consider adopting to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
