CULLMAN –  The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday hosted its February Community Luncheon, and guest speaker Dr. Bruce Pieper’s enthusiastic presentation kept attendees entertained.

A speaker, trainer and consultant, Pieper currently works with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center helping with teambuilding within the agency. He has offered his expertise in leadership skills and team development to churches, nonprofits and government, education, manufacturing and health care organizations.

“Everything rises and falls on leadership,” said Pieper, who discussed the effectiveness of situational leadership as defined and explained in Dr. Ken Blanchard’s book “Leadership and the One Minute Manager.”

Pieper pointed to a lack of coaching as the main area business leaders tend to neglect out of the four supportive behaviors laid out in the situational leadership model: directing, coaching, supporting and delegating.

This month’s luncheon was sponsored by Payroll Services. The Chamber also congratulated Guthrie’s for being named February’s Small Business of the Month.
