On September 22nd, Mr. and Mrs. Asa B. Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Herzig, Miss Mae Hauk and Doctor G.W. Bledsoe assisted the Welti Community in organizing a Red Cross Auxiliary.
G.D. Elmore is chairman and Jesse Smith secretary-treasurer of the Fairview Red Cross Auxiliary.
The government is calling for peach seeds and nut shells to be used in making gas masks.
A two-day singing will be held at Shelton Grove on October 5th and 6th.
The total income of the Cullman County government is about $55,000 annually. Of this, $12,400 has to be paid in interest on the road bond debt and the courthouse debt.
A.J. Wenzel, president of the Cullman County Farmers and Shippers Association, has called a meeting of that group for October 5th at the Cullman Quartette Club.
Enoch Ruehl has written his sister, Dovie that the boys in his “outfit” in France, are so sunburnt that they look like pumpkins.

The Vinemont Post Office was robbed on Saturday night of about $8.50 in stamps. According to Postmaster Maurice Holmes, the thieves gained entrance by forcing a window in the rear of the building.
Marriage licenses were issued this week to Tom Gilley and Irene Hathcock and Ozell Twilley and Alva McFadden.
Elizabeth Dickerman and Ellen Klein have returned from a motor trip through Canada.
The Ferris Patricks have almost completed their new house.
The “F’s” are taking the day. Everything in the news now is fairs, football, fall clothes and “Fuehrer.”
Virginia Grob is recuperating from a serious operation, in Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Evelyn Grey McAdory, Beverly Green and D.O. McKoy spent Sunday in Huntsville.
Al Richter was speaker at the Garden Club meeting, on Friday, at First Christian Church. His subject was “Bulbs.”
A Cullman reared man, Doctor J.A. Keller will be inaugurated president of Florence State Teacher’s College on October 1st.
Heart disease caused four deaths in Cullman County, last month.
Attending a W.M.S. convention of United Lutheran Church in America, in Birmingham, this week were Reverend C.C. Helmby, Mrs. L.B. Keller, Mrs. J.F. Schaffer, Mrs. Raymond Graf, Mrs. J.J. Fricke, Miss Jennie Bolte, Mrs. Lillie Hampl, Mrs. L. Kreitlein and Mrs. O.W. McMinn.
J.N. McNutt and O.P. Jackson were in Atlanta, Georgia, on business for a couple of days this week.
The Cullman Lions Club will hold its charter night on September 29th at Saint John’s Church basement.
