HANCEVILLE – The Lady Warriors and Lady Aggies tipped off Saturday night’s varsity action and the top two seeds went down to the wire deciding this year’s varsity girls’ champion.

Fairview started the game strong, taking a 10-6 lead midway through the opening quarter and stretching their advantage to 17-9 later in the period on a Payton Golden three-pointer. West Point managed to fight back late in the first, cutting the lead to 19-16 by the start of the second.

The Lady Warriors opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run to get out in front of the Lady Aggies, but Fairview was able to fight back as well. A basket from Morgan Lindsay made it a 30-27 game with less than a minute remaining in the second and the Lady Aggies were able to get the lead down to 30-28 by the halftime break.

A free throw from Molly McKelvy put Fairview on top 31-30 early in the third quarter but Miriam Oldacre responded with a three-pointer on West Point’s next possession. Micah Oldacre added another three-pointer to put the Lady Warriors up 37-31 with less than two minutes to play in the third and they held a 39-34 lead at the start of the fourth.

A layup from Daisy Manasco cut the West Point lead to 44-38 midway through the fourth and Golden nailed a three-pointer to trim the lead to 46-41 with less than a minute to play but it was too little too late for Fairview and the Lady Warriors went on to win it 50-48.

Miriam Oldacre led West Point with 17 points in the win, followed closely by Micah Oldacre with 16 and Mackenzie Carter with 10. Golden led the Lady Aggies with 19 points, followed by Maddie Yeager with 11.
