Obituary: Robert “R.C.Cullman” Carl Phillips

Robert Carl Phillips, known to his friends as “R.C.,” passed away Jan. 23, 2019 at the age of 92.

Following junior high school at Good Hope and two years at Cullman High, he was drafted into the Army where he served until June 1946, returning to graduate from CHS. R.C. attended St. Bernard College and Auburn University.

His adult life was spent in the poultry industry in Cullman County.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanne Livingston, and sister, Betty Smith, nieces Kristy (Paul) Pinyon, Deanna Little, Karin (Terry) Ritchey and nephews Mark (Stacey) Goodwin, Eddie (Melanie) Goodwin.

He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Gladys Caple Phillips and sister, Marge Goodwin.

Visitation will be at Moss Service from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 with funeral services at St. Johns Evangelical church at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, conducted by Pastors John Richter and Bob Kurtz. Interment following at Hopewell Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Tim Richter, Clint Winston, Mark Goodwin, Eddie Goodwin, Dr. Bruce Lee, Bobby Edwards, Terry Ritchey and Paul Pinyon. Honorary pallbearers are Hardie Cornett, Bobby Brown, Charlie Montgomery, Darwin Hardison, and Cody Francis.

Special appreciation to CRMC doctors Peinhardt, Johns, Mahan, Windom, Shaw, and the staff of third and fourth floors, CRMC Home health and his many caregivers through the years.
