CULLMAN – The Cullman Bowling Center has undergone a major renovation and celebrated its recent grand re-opening with a ribbon cutting, along with the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and city leaders, on Thursday. The bowling center began renovations in July 2018 and re-opened in December.

The addition of the Valley Tavern and Grille provides food, a full bar, live music and large outdoor patio areas.

General Manager Brian Vance explained, “We will be adding our draft beer system hopefully next week. We will have a variety of draft beers including several local beers from Goat Island.”

Live music is featured on Friday and Saturdays, and the center hopes to bring in more bands during the week. When the weather warms up, the patio will provide more seating and outdoor activities.

Owner Corey Sandlin incorporated parts of the old bowling alley into the renovations.

Shared Sandlin, “We used the wood from the old lanes to create the bar. The backdrop of the bar is from the old air hockey table. Most of Cullman has probably played on that.”

The arcade area now has at least 15 new games in addition to the classics like Skee-ball. The new arcade has a redemption center where players can get prizes for tickets.

The bowling area and lanes are much improved, with renovated lanes, new pins and new bowling shoes. The entire center looks brighter and modern.

Vance also emphasized, “Our center is ADA-compliant and can be enjoyed by everyone.”

Prior to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Sandlin spoke to those in attendance, saying, “We appreciate all the excitement everyone has shown about this. It couldn’t have happened without several people. First God, and our families, our friends and all of our employees. I’d really like to thank Cullman Savings Bank. Without them, we couldn’t have done any of this. I think it’s something really good for the community and we are proud to be a part of it. We have excellent food, full bar, and I think our bartenders and our servers are the best anywhere in Cullman.”

Cullman City Councilman Johnny Cook followed, saying, “The great investment you have put into the facility creates a great spot for families to come and enjoy. The bowling, the food, a little bit of an adult atmosphere here; it’s going to serve the citizens of Cullman well. We wish you the best of luck.”

The Cullman Bowling Center has many leagues. Ladies league is on Tuesday nights. Men’s league is Thursday nights. Mixed leagues are Monday afternoon and Monday and Wednesday evenings. Senior league is Thursday afternoon. Birthday parties can also be booked for Saturdays and Sundays or during the daytime on weekdays. Special needs bowling is also being organized. Glow Bowl is held every Friday and Saturday night.

Cullman Bowling Center is located at 1710 Tally Ho St. NW.
