Johnson Family Reunion
Members of the late Isaac Johnson, Senior family enjoyed a reunion on Sunday, at Brushy Lake, in the Bankhead Forest.
Honored on that day was Mr. Johnson’s widow, Mrs. Julia Ann Johnson, who was celebrating her eightieth birth anniversary.
Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bowden, Dot and Tommy, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Montgomery, Steve and Debbie, all of Birmingham; Nobe Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowlan and Peanie, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Owens, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heflin, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Johnson, Sherry, Jerry, David and Kathy, all of Cullman; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Eason, of Alberville; Mr. and Mrs. Price Johnson, Linda, Brenda and Vickie, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Holladay, Mr. and Mrs. Alman Johnson, James, Tommie, Gary, Ray Blane and Randy, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Smith, Linda Kaye, Ann, Alice, Bonnie and Connie, all of Hartselle; Mr. and Mrs. Leldon Sterling, Phyliss, Delora, Joe, Jan and Larry, all of Decatur; Mrs. Lacy Bowden and Mrs. Ada Pope.
Cupp Rites Held
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, at Good Hope Baptist Church for Asa Clarence Cupp, 67, who died in Cullman Hospital on Friday.
The Reverend Robert Humphrey conducted the services and Moss Service directed interment in the Good Hope Cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Essie Cupp; four sons, Cecil, Kenneth, Baxter and Ted Cupp; four daughters, Mrs. Carl King, Mrs. Mack Sasnette, Mrs. E.J. Viltone and Mrs. C.W. Self; nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ray Elliott Killed
When Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Heinl returned on Monday from attending the funeral of his nephew, Ronnie Gasser, they had a message waiting that told of the critical injury of her nephew, Ray Elliott, in Gadsden.
Mr. Elliott, who was injured when a crane fell on him, while he was a work, died later on Monday.
Funeral services were held in Winston County.
Surviving are his widow; his mother, Mrs. Alta Ellison and a number of relatives in this county.
Robert Gasser Killed
Robert Gasser apparently lost control of the car he was driving, on the slick pavement of a curve on Saint Bernard College Road. He was alone, enroute to the college, when the accident occurred. He was thrown from the car.
Brain and internal injuries caused the youth’s death, shortly before midnight on Friday in Cullman Hospital.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gasser; one brother, David and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kaple.
Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m. on September 22nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Reverend Louis Funk, O.S.B. officiating. Moss Service directed interment in the Catholic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Murry Lynch, Robert Sullivan, Edward Boike, Lynn Adams, Butch Bachmann and George Hasenbein.
The Saint Bernard football team and senior class served as honorary pallbearers.
Sims Rites Held
John W. Sims, 75, died on September 18th at his Hanceville residence and funeral services were held at First Baptist Church, Hanceville, on September 20th with the Reverend Hunting, assisted by the Reverend Sammy Stabler officiating and Moss Service directing interment.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Millie Sims; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Phillips; one grandson; three brothers and two sisters.
