The Cullman Tribune's Birmingham news partner, WVTM 13, is reporting that the suspect in the Thanksgiving night shooting at the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover has been arrested. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has just release the following:

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, in cooperation with Tenth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Danny Carr, obtained an arrest warrant on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, for Erron Martez Dequan Brown, 20, of Bessemer for the attempted murder of Brian Xavier Wilson, 18, of Birmingham on Thursday, Nov. 22, at the Riverchase Galleria, in Hoover, AL.

Agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and Georgia Bureau of Investigation, took Brown into custody at approximately 9 a.m. CST in Fairburn, Ga., on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018.

The investigation is ongoing, including the officer-involved shooting from the same evening and location. The cooperation of  the Hoover Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has aided in the investigation and the expediency of identifying Brown and effecting his arrest. The SBI is also grateful for the patience shown by the City of Hoover in this process. It is highly likely that prematurely releasing information, including video evidence, would have hampered the investigation’s progress thus far, even to the point of deterring key witnesses. As other witnesses continue to come forward, it is imperative for the integrity of the investigation that SBI continue to keep confidential information Agents obtain. SBI continues to ask for the public’s and City of Hoover’s support by being patient, allowing the judicial process to proceed in the manner provided under our country’s and state’s system of justice.

SBI Director John Q. Hamm stated, “SBI will continue to work efficiently, thoroughly and impartially to bring all relevant facts to light to provide the DA with the most accurate facts and evidence possible in this case. This is not just SBI’s commitment to the people of Hoover and Jefferson County, but SBI’s commitment to the citizens of Alabama in all investigations SBI undertakes.”

Once Brown’s extradition from Georgia has been affirmed, Brown will be booked into the Jefferson County Jail, Birmingham, under a $150,000 bond. Additional charges are expected as the investigation progresses. Once Agents have completed the investigation, the file in its entirety will be turned over to the Tenth Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Nothing further is available at this time.
