CULLMAN – The 2018 regular season ended for Addison, Meek and Cullman last week but there are a handful of local matchups left to settle this week in Cullman County.
(2-7) Vinemont v. (4-5) Cold Springs (Thursday night game)
The Eagles are set to square off against one another in Vinemont on Thursday night and the home team will be looking for a little pay back. The seniors on this Vinemont team lost to Cold Springs 50-7 the last time these two teams played one another in 2015 and they’ll be ready to turn things around this year. Cold Springs has lost five straight games so a win on the road over Vinemont this week would be an ideal way for the Eagles of Cold Springs to finish the season.
(4-5) Fairview v. (6-3) Holly Pond
The Broncos will be on the road to face (8-1) Geraldine in the opening round of the state playoffs next week but first they’ll have to take on the Aggies in Dafford Smith Stadium. Holly Pond is coming off of a win over Vinemont last week and Fairview had an extra day to prepare after traveling to Danville last Thursday. The Aggies would love nothing more than to end their season with a big win over the Broncos in front of their home crowd and Holly Pond would love nothing more than to carry back-to-back wins into the postseason.
(8-1) Good Hope v. (1-8) Hanceville
Nothing would be sweeter for the Bulldogs and their fans than an upset on the road to close out the season, but it will be a tall task for them against the playoff-bound Good Hope Raiders. Hanceville is only averaging 17 points per game this season and the Raider defense is allowing fewer than that. Good Hope will be looking to finish the season strong this week before the playoffs begin.
(2-7) West Point v. (1-8) Cordova
It’s been a bit of a strange, disappointing season for the Warriors, but with Cordova coming to town this week, they’ll have an opportunity to end this season on a high note. West Point’s defense has struggled throughout this season, but the Blue Devils are only averaging 15 points per game and have been shut out twice this season. The Warriors have struggled to score on the road this season but they’re averaging 35 points per game at home and both of their wins have come on their home field. Expect West Point to score some points this week and give the Warriors a chance to finish the season strong.
