CULLMAN – Cullman County Animal Shelter volunteer Donna Ruttkay introduces us to The Cullman Tribune’s Pet of the Week:

Auntie is a medium-sized, 6-month-old mixed breed pup, born in mid-April.  She’s a lively medium- to high-energy pet who seems destined for a career as a companion, comfort or therapy dog.

Ruttkay said of Auntie, “Patience and perseverance have produced a trusting pup, who was otherwise anxious of the unknown and unsure of herself.”

She also described Auntie as a loving companion who is “ever so sweet and trusting of you to keep her safe; she recognizes you as her leader, for direction and comfort. She thrives on positive affirmation for a job well done.”

Overall, according to Ruttkay, Auntie is “one of the sweetest dogs ever.”

Special deal: free!

Auntie's previous owner, who could not keep her, has paid the cost of her adoption in advance.  That means that her new human will get his or her new best friend free of charge.

Ruttkay insists that, though Auntie is available for free, “That is not indicative of her worth!”

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior.  Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
