CULLMAN – The Miss Cullman County Fair Queen Pageant will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Coca-Cola Theatre at the Cullman County Fairgrounds. Eight contestants, representing Cullman’s public high schools, will compete for $6,000 in scholarships from the Cullman County Fair Association, a $200 scholarship from the Cullman Lioness Club and a one-year Wallace State Community College scholarship in the field of performing arts to the winner of the talent portion of the contest. Miss Cullman County Fair Queen will also receive a diamond pendant from Doug Doggett Jewelers of Cullman.
Chrissi Smith, Good Hope High School
Smith is the daughter of Brandon and Sonjah Smith.
Her hobbies include playing the banjo, watching all sorts of movies, watching “Grey’s Anatomy,” doing hair and makeup and going to Dollywood with her family.
She is a member of the student government association and the National Honor Society. She is in the Pep Club and has been on the varsity volleyball team for four years. She was All County and All Area volleyball in 2016 and 2017. She was All Area Volleyball 2017 Most Valuable Player. In addition, she works at a family-owned and operated restaurant as a waitress.
After high school she plans to attend Wallace State Community College and Athens State University with a major in physical education and a minor in math. She plans to be a varsity volleyball coach.
Caty Hoffpauir, West Point High School
Hoffpauir is the daughter of Russell and Leah Hoffpauir.
Her hobbies include reading her Bible, worshipping God, spending time with friends and family, traveling, playing with her dog and eating.
She is the president of her school’s student government association, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team, the Family Career and Community Leaders of America, is the head student athletic trainer, school ambassador and a representative for Alabama Girls State.
After high school she plans to attend Highlands College to pursue the call God has on her life in ministry by becoming a writer and a speaker.
Angelina Wallis, Fairview High School
Wallis is the daughter of Katrina Wallis.
Her hobbies include playing soccer, the violin, the guitar and working.
She is on the soccer team and a member of the Key Club, she is also in the top five in her class.
After high school she plans on attend Emory University and be part of the nurse anesthesia program as she pursues her career goals.
Desmarie Moore, Cold Springs High School
Moore is the daughter of James and Mary Moore.
Her hobbies include singing, planning and working with the children’s department at her church, and volunteering at retirement and nursing homes where she plans and helps with activities.
She has participated in the Family Career and Community Leaders of America organization. She has been a member of the Diamond Dolls for the baseball program. She plays volleyball, softball and basketball and runs track. She is in the student government association and is in charge of the DARE program at her school. She also received the Highest Math Average Award at her school.
After high school she plans to attend college to pursue her goal of becoming a psychiatrist and helping those with mental illness and drug addiction.
Allbany Douglas, Vinemont High School
Douglas is the daughter of Cassie and Austin Phillips.
Her hobbies include singing, reading, writing stories, poetry and music. She enjoys working on her car and as a nail technician.
At her school she is a member of the Rachel’s Challenge Club and also part of the Innovative System Project for the Increased Recruitment of Emerging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Students (InSPIRESS).
After high school she plans to get her bachelor’s degree in psychology and work in that field.
Abigail Long, Hanceville High School
Long is the daughter of Mark and Stacey Long.
Her hobbies include spending a majority of her time twirling baton and dancing; she also works as an instructor at Genesis Performing Arts.
She is currently a Fast Track student at Wallace State Community College where she will complete the Paralegal Program and obtain her associate degree before she graduates high school. At Wallace State she serves as a student government association senator and is vice president of the Fast Track program. She is a member of the Paralegal Club, the Rotaract Program, the Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies, and the Baptist Campus Ministries. She has twirled baton and danced competitively for 12 years. She is the nine-time Miss Majorette of Alabama, two-time Miss Majorette of the South and a five-time national title holder. She is currently the feature twirler for her school’s marching band. She was recently honored with the title of 2019 Cullman County Distinguished Young Woman.
After high school she plans to attend the University of Tennessee and twirl for the Pride of the Southland Band. She has already been accepted into the school’s prestigious pre-law program and will continue her graduate work at the UT School of Law.
Eryn Rainwater, Cullman High School
Rainwater is the daughter of Brian and Misty Rainwater.
Her hobbies include singing, writing, playing roller derby, serving her church and spending time with her friends. She recently completed the Leadership U summer program with her church.
She has spent four years as the jazz band vocalist, two years with the LEO Club and is a member of her school’s marching band and concert band.
After high school she plans to attend Wallace State Community College to get her associate degree in interior design. After completing her studies at Wallace State, she plans to follow her passion for Christian ministry and attend Desperation College to become a pastoral missionary.
Lili Harris, Holly Pond High School
Harris the daughter of Tony and Cindy Harris.
Her hobbies include cooking, shopping, singing, spending time with family and friends, being involved in her youth group, playing the ukulele and reading her Bible.
She is active in volleyball, basketball, the student government association, math team, Beta Club, Key Club, choir and ensemble, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the yearbook staff.
After high school she plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham and major in biology. She plans to become a physical therapist.
