FAIRVIEW – The Fairview Aggies (Class 4A, Region 7) came up short against the visiting DAR Patriots (Class 4A, Region 7) 52-15 Friday night, in what was their first region game.
Fairview received the opening kick, but the possession was turned over not long after. Shortly after that, the Patriots scored their first touchdown with a 40-yard pass to Brayden Lewis and an extra point.
Fairview answered back with a 48-yard run for a touchdown by quarterback Dayne Black, who rushed for 83 yards in the game. The Aggies topped it off with a successful extra point, tying the game 7-7.
After that touchdown, Brayden Lewis returned the kickoff for a touchdown for the Patriots, and the extra point made it 14-7.
The Patriots scored again with 36 seconds left in the first quarter with a successful field goal. After the ensuing kickoff, the Patriots were able to recover the ball from Fairview, retaining possession.
The Patriots were able to hold off the Aggies’ offense throughout the rest of the first half and scored two more touchdown themselves, both by Nathan Nelson. After those scores, the Patriots led 31-17 at the half.
The Patriots scored again not long after the start of the second half with another touchdown by Nelson. The Patriots added two more touchdowns in the third quarter that put the game out of reach for Fairview.
The Aggies were able to score one more time in the fourth quarter with a touchdown run from running back Dalton Payne, and the successful 2-point conversion made the final score 52-15, Patriots.
The Aggies will regroup and look to bounce back next week when they travel to face the St. John Paul II Falcons (Class 4A, Region 7).
