CULLMAN – The following is a list of summer programs being held at the North Alabama Agriplex. Visit http://agriplex.org to register or for more information.
Pre-School (ages 3-5) & Elementary (ages 6-11) Garden Camps – Campers work in raised beds at the Agriplex and take home projects to continue learning. $35 per child. June 6, 20, and 27, July 11, and August 1, 9-11 a.m. each day.
18th Annual Touring Farms for Kids – Ages 7-13 – Touring farms in Cullman County on June 13 & 14 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., with food and shirts provided. $25 per person. Paying parents are welcome to stay but may need to drive separately.
Sewing Camps
Basic Sewing – July 16-20, 9 a.m.-noon for ages 7-12 or 5-6 with adult. $35 per child. Each child will receive their own sewing kit and learn the basics of hand sewing to make projects that they can take home. WAITLIST
Advanced Sewing – July 23-27, 9 a.m.-noon for ages 9 and up. $35 per child. Designed for Sewing Camp alumni and experienced hand sewers, this camp will teach students to complete more complex projects using machines as well as hand sewing.
Farm Kids Club – The Farm Kids Club is held on Saturdays each month from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Agriplex Heritage Center for children age 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and class fees are $5 at the door per child (max of $10 per family) and free for adults.
July 14 – Growing and Eating Herbs: Exploring the herb gardens at the Agriplex, taking home herbs to grow, and tasting yummy herbal treats.
Living Landscapes – This is a monthly educational series for adults about backyard sustainability. The cost is $5 per person, and all classes start at 6 p.m. unless otherwise specified.
June 19 – Rain Barrels: Make and take rain barrels to store precipitation during stormy seasons to save for dry spells. $40 per barrel.
July 19 – Growing and Cooking with Herbs: Explore the herb gardens at the Agriplex and learn to grow culinary herbs. Take home herbs and taste recipes.
August 30 – Saving Big Money, Growing Small Fruits: Cullman County Extension Coordinator Tony Glover will discuss growing practices, pest control, and variety selection for strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, muscadines and grapes.
Heritage Skills – This monthly series teaches adults heritage and homesteading skills passed down through generations. The cost is $5 per person, and all classes start at 6 p.m. unless otherwise specified.
June 21 – Cast Iron Care and Cookery: Learn how to season, cook with, and clean cast iron for delicious non-stick results.
July 24 – Introduction to Smocking: Learn about basic smocking terminology, stitches, and supplies. $10 for a kit.
August 21 – Quilting Basics: Learn machine piercing and hand-quilting basics to recycle old rags and fabric scraps into a cozy work of art.
Outreach Camps at Other Locations – Free camps from 9 a.m.-noon each day.

The Agriplex will also showcase its Power of Produce Club (POP Club) Saturdays at the Festhalle Marketplace from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. until October, as well as all Second Fridays celebrations. Children age 12 and younger will get free produce samples and market money to spend.
