UPDATE: Coroner ID’s 2 victims in Sunday afternoon wreck on Hwy. 69

SIMCOE – A late Sunday afternoon head-on collision claimed the lives of two people, confirmed Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick, who has now identified the victims as Rachel Martin, 48, of Fairview and Micah Bailey Spencer, 19, of Holly Pond. Spencer graduated from Holly Pond High School on Saturday, May 26.

The wreck happened on Alabama Highway 69 by the Simcoe Worship Center, near the intersection of Hwy. 69 and County Road 1635 before 5 p.m.

Kilpatrick said Spencer was driving a gray Honda Accord and Martin was driving a red Chevrolet Colorado.

Volunteer firefighters from Gold Ridge, Fairview and Baileyton responded to the scene, along with Cullman EMS and Alabama State Troopers.
