CULLMAN – Cullman looked to continue to build momentum toward the playoffs as the Bearcats took on Russellville at home Monday night. After a slow start to the first half, the Bearcats quickly got into gear, taking the early momentum away from Russellville. Behind a hat trick recorded by Isaac Rodriguez, Cullman went on to take the game, 4-1.

The Golden Tigers quickly struck first on a goal by Andy Alonso that took only 1:26 off the clock. But it was all Cullman after that; the Bearcats quickly tied the game at one at the 26:26 mark when Washington Sheffield found Rodriguez on a perfect pass. Rodriguez struck again at the 9:19 mark, kicking it in from the far left side. Sam Vermillion got a goal on a great pass from Miguel Tizapa to make it 3-1 with 3:13 remaining in the half. Great Bearcat defense and some amazing saves by Jaron Potter kept Russellville at arm's length.

Cullman extended its lead in the second half on Rodriguez's third goal of the night with 9:46 remaining in the contest; the Bearcats completely shut down the Golden Tigers in the second half, grabbing the three-goal victory to push their record to 9-6-2 overall.

"We got off to a slow start, but we clicked on all cylinders after that," Cullman coach Casey Harbin said. "We worked on some different passes and some more little things during the game. This win will definitely help our team moving forward; Russellville has got a good, solid team with a great coaching staff. Going forward, this will definitely help us out with two very tough games coming up."

Cullman will travel to Hoover on Thursday and to Oak Mountain next Tuesday to finish off its regular season.
