PREP SOFTBALL: Cold Springs routs Vinemont, 15-2

BREMEN – Cold Springs and Vinemont faced off in Monday night softball action, and Cold Springs took the game easily, 15-2.

Cold Springs struck first in the opening inning. Crimson Gann hit a one-out single, and Katherine Sanders drew a walk. Later on, Victoria Freeman hit a two-run single to right field to put Cold Springs up, 2-0. Vinemont made it a 2-1 game in the top of the second on an RBI by Kanasta Daniel.

Cold Springs added two more runs in the bottom of the third. Back-to-back singles by A.K. Voce and Freeman, then a walk by Kylon Hamby, loaded the bases for Desmarie Moore, who hit an RBI single to center field, before Emily Williams hit an RBI double to increase Cold Springs’ lead to 4-1. Daniel added her second RBI of the game in the top of the fourth to make it a 4-2 ball game.

Cold Springs busted the game wide open in its half of the inning. Sanders hit a pair of three-run homers in the inning. Williams added a two-run double, Goodwin hit a two-run single and Hamby hit an RBI single to make the final score 15-2.

Sanders had two hits, three runs scored and six RBIs for Cold Springs. She also went four innings giving up just four hits and two runs; she struck out three. Goodwin added a hit, two RBIs and two runs scored. Gann added two hits and scored three runs. Moore had three hits and an RBI. Williams had two hits and three RBIs, Freeman added two hits and a pair of RBIs and Hamby added a pair of hits and an RBI. Voce pitched the fifth inning and struck out two; she also added a hit and an RBI. Cold Springs gets its first win of the season and is now 1-4. The Cold Springs Lady Eagles will travel to Cleveland on Tuesday.

Vinemont falls to 0-3 overall; the Vinemont Lady Eagles will participate in the Cullman County Umpires Association Tournament and will face off against Good Hope and Meek on Thursday.
