CULLMAN – The Cullman County Animal Shelter’s Donna Ruttkay introduces us to this week’s Pet of the Week, a 1-year-old female Aussie mix named Esther.
Esther is a medium-energy dog who struggles with shelter life, preferring the outdoors and a large grassy yard. She loves the company and attention of people, but is polite and respects boundaries. She would be perfectly satisfied to lie down close by your side in the sun.
Esther is a good prospect for obedience training: quickly learning hand signals, readily jumping hurdles on an agility course and practicing proper leash etiquette.
Ruttkay described Esther as a “pleasant, enjoyable and honest companion” and “a remarkably talented dog with considerable potential.”
Esther’s adoption fee is $90 which includes the following: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, spay, microchip, free 45-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (sales tax not included).

Happy update on previous pets
The animal shelter is very happy to report to The Tribune that three of our featured pets–Ernest T. (who’s now Ernie), Joy and Casey have all been recently adopted. Cocker spaniel Charley was picked up by a rescue service.
