CULLMAN – Here are a few area events that are coming up soon, four of them on Thursday.

Bonsai for the Beginner, Jan. 18, 10:30 a.m.

What: Bonsai for the Beginner with Dr. Bob Wendorf

Where: Cullman County Extension Office, 402 Arnold St. NE (basement)

This is a regular Master Gardener meeting, but the public is encouraged to come to attend this free event.

Cullman Regional hosting ‘New Year, New You’ seminar, Jan. 18, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Chances are at some time in your life you’ve made a New Year’s resolution – and then broken it. This year, stop the cycle of resolving to make a change and then not following through.

Join Bridgett McKoy, fitness manager, and Leeann Plank, therapy services manager, as they share information about getting fit in the New Year. They will discuss general fitness, the importance of keeping in motion, normal activity levels and the best places for fitness. They will also talk about therapy services offered here at Cullman Regional to keep you at your best.

The New Year, New You seminar will be held on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Colonel Cullmann Room, located in Professional Office Building 2 on the Cullman Regional Campus (1912 Alabama Highway 157). Backyard Dairy Cow- Heritage Skills, Jan. 18, 6 p.m.

Mae's Comedy Night – Dusty Slay, Jan. 18, 7-11 p.m.

Hit up the inaugural "Mae's Comedy Night" with comedian Dusty Slay and special guest Hannah Hogan.

Straight off his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel (check it out here http://bit.ly/2lX9YnN), Dusty Slay is hitting the road to Mae's Food Hall Jan. 18 @ 7 p.m.

Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce Annual State of the State Community Luncheon, Jan. 19, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the State Community Luncheon is set for Friday, Jan. 19 at the All Steak Restaurant. The event will be in the banquet room from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The luncheon will feature updates from Montgomery from Cullman’s state legislative delegation:

  • Sen. Paul Bussman, R-Cullman
  • Rep. Randall Shedd, R- Fairview
  • Rep. Corey Harbison, R- Good Hope
  • Rep. Ed Henry, R-Hartselle

Tickets for the luncheon, which is presented by Shirley Quattlebaum – State Farm Insurance and sponsored by Weichert Realtors – Carter & Company, are $15 for Chamber members and $20 for future members.
