HANCEVILLE – Cullman took on Hayden to finish off day one of the Buffalo Wild Wings Christmas Challenge inside Tom Drake Coliseum on the campus of Wallace State Wednesday night.

The Bearcats didn't waste any time getting off to a great start as they jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead behind four each from Dylan Finch and Zane Manley. They allowed just one Hayden basket in the first quarter, a 3-pointer by Christian Chappell. Cullman had four players score in the quarter to lead 17-3 after one.

The Wildcats looked to chip into the lead in the second quarter, but Cullman had an answer every time. Collin Chappell scored five quick points for Hayden to cut it to 28-15, but John Parrish answered with a three to make it 31-15, which was the score at the half.

The Bearcats quickly stretched their lead to 20 on a pair of Nick Williams free throws in the third; their biggest lead of the game was 27 after a Noah Bussman layup made it 42-15, and they continued to get other players in the scoring column, cruising to the 18-point victory.

Final score: Cullman 58, Hayden 40

Manley finished with 14 points and seven rebounds for Cullman (9-5). Finch finished with a double-double: 13 points and 14 rebounds. Williams ended up with eight points, six boards and three steals.
