CULLMAN – In recognition of National Diabetes Month, Cullman Regional is offering a free diabetes prevention screening to the community on Nov. 9. Visits are by appointment only.
According to the American Diabetes Association, 1.5 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year. You can prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes by staying at a healthy weight, eating well and being active. Cullman Regional’s screening offers the opportunity to see if you are at risk for diabetes, as well as other cardiovascular diseases.
Screenings include the following for all participants at no charge:
- Lipid Panel (Cholesterol and Glucose for diabetes)
- Body Mass Index (Diet)
- EKG (Electrocardiogram) – Checks heart rhythms and can determine if there is a potential issue
- Blood Pressure Check
- ABI Screening
- Bone Density Screening
“The goal of these screenings is to help community members identify any potential risk factors they may have in order to reduce their risk for diabetes,” said Lindsey Dossey, executive director marketing & community outreach at Cullman Regional. “We want to help our community catch potential risks and get them under control before it becomes an emergency.”
Are you at risk for diabetes? Is your blood sugar too high or too low? Does your family have a history of diabetes? If so, call to schedule your appointment today at 256-735-5600.
The screenings will take place in the Colonel Cullmann Room in Cullman Regional’s Professional Office Building 2 (1912 Alabama Highway 157, Cullman, AL 35058).
