County proclaims October Domestic Violence Awareness Month

CULLMAN – The Cullman County Commission at its regular meeting on Tuesday joined the City of Cullman in proclaiming October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Additionally, a proclamation was issued to members of Hopewell Baptist Church in Hanceville recognizing the church’s 175th anniversary. An anniversary celebration will be held at the church on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.

The commission also:

– Ratified the City of Cullman Tax Abatement for Royal Technologies in the amount of $14 million for building and machinery. An announcement is scheduled at Royal Technologies on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m.

– Approved Resolution 2018-01 Pre-application for Airport Funding FY-2018. Cullman County Airport General Manager Ben Harrison explained that the funding will go toward the taxiway project and an upcoming fencing project.

– Approved Resolution 2018-02. Authorizes County Attorney Chad Floyd to file civil complaints against delinquent sanitation account holders.

– Granted authority for Chairman Kenneth Walker to sign a Consent Order in Cullman County Circuit Court Case CV 2017-052.

– Adopted the updated CARTS Standard Operating Procedure Guidelines Handbook.

– Authorized Walker to sign an agreement with the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts for the audit for the period of October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016. Cost is $14,484.

– Authorized Walker and Emergency Management Agency Director Phyllis Little to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Cullman Parks & Recreation and Cullman County EMA.

– Authorized the signing of a Mapping Software Agreement with ESRI for the Appraisal Department and payment of $50,000 for annual usage.

– Approved Commissioner Kerry Watson’s appointment of Kristi Nyquist to the Wellstone Mental Health 310 Board for a term to expire on April 1, 2019.

– Approved Commissioner Garry Marchman’s appointment of Rita Nicholas to the Wellstone Mental Health 310 Board for a term to expire on April 1, 2021.

– Approved Walker’s appointment of Shirley Arnett to the Wellstone Mental Health 310 Board for a term to expire on April 1, 2023.

– Approved repairs for a crack in one of Smith Lake Park's pools. Estimated cost is $12,157.

– Approved the purchase of a 2011 Ford F-150 from ADECA Surplus for the Road Department. Cost is $9,500.

– Approved bid number 1218 – Extension – Traffic Striping – J.C Cheek Contractors.

The commission will hold a work session Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in the commission conference room. The next commission meeting will immediately follow the work session at 10 a.m. in the commission meeting room.
