It’s time to renew business licenses

NOTICE FROM CULLMAN COUNTY PROBATE JUDGE TAMMY BROWN:

October is business license renewal month in the Cullman County Probate Office. Any license not purchased during the month of October will face penalty and interest.

Before any person, firm, or corporation shall engage in or carry on any business or do any act for which a business license is required, (he/she/it) shall pay to the Judge of Probate of the County in which it is proposed to engage in or carry on such business, the amount required for such license. The cost of a business license is based on the type business it is and for certain businesses the location of the business.

Per Act 2014-430, effective October 1, 2014, prior to being issued a business license by the Probate Office, the applicant must provide the Social Security Number (SSN) for individuals or their Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) for other entities.

Certain businesses must have permits before obtaining the license. Please bring or include all permits for business license in order to avoid a delay in the purchase of the license.

The Probate Office mailed out reminders to your business. County license may be purchased by mail; must include a $2 mail fee. If renewing by mail send all business license renewals by mail to the following:

  • Courthouse Probate Office/Room 101
  • Baileyton Sheriff’s Substation
  • Dodge City Town Hall
  • Hanceville City Hall

Days and hours of operation:   Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
