CULLMAN – Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs on Tuesday officially proclaimed the month of October 2017 “Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) Month” in the city of Cullman. Proclamations were presented to both the Alpha Theta and Beta Delta chapters of Alpha Delta Kappa in Cullman. Lisa Hullett was present to accept the proclamation for the Beta Delta chapter. Barbara Guthrie and Nancy Horton were present to accept on behalf of the Alpha Theta chapter.
Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary organization for women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding. The organization seeks to give recognition to outstanding women educators, build a fellowship among women in the field of education, promote high standards of education, promote educational and charitable projects and activities, sponsor scholarships, further and maintain worthy standards in education, cooperate with community programs relating to education and charities and contribute to world understanding, goodwill and peace. Membership is honorary and based on peer recognition. With more than 1,300 chapters throughout the world, Alpha Delta Kappa members focus on the good of schools, communities, the teaching profession and the world.
“I appreciate the dedication to education of Alpha Delta Kappa members,” said Jacobs. “I urge our citizens to thank an Alpha Delta Kappa member, and all retired educators, for their many contributions to the field of education and service to our community.”
