CULLMAN – Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry and the Cullman County Sheriff's Rodeo Committee donated $15,500 from the proceeds of the 2016 Sheriff's Rodeo to Cullman County Schools Superintendent Shane Barnette and Cullman City Schools Superintendent Dr. Susan Paterson this week.

The money will be divided between the 31 schools in Cullman County who have special needs students.

"As I have said many times, the special needs rodeo is one of the highlights of the year for us at the sheriff's office. It's a great opportunity for the staff to be with the children and see the smiles and joy it brings," said Gentry.

The special needs rodeo precedes the sheriff's rodeo. The 2017 Cullman County Sheriff's Rodeo will take place on Dec. 8-9 at 7:30 p.m.
