HOLLY POND – The Holly Pond Broncos hosted the Asbury Rams Friday night, and it was all Broncos from the opening kick. Coming off a bye week, Holly Pond looked sharp on both sides of the ball, dominating Asbury 54-6.

The line of scrimmage was completely controlled by the Broncos, who ran the ball for 247 yards in the first half alone and held Asbury to -19 yards of total offense in the first half. Explosive plays in the running game led to quick scores for Holly Pond early in the game.

Junior running back Jeremiah Holmes went for 90 yards and a touchdown in the first half on just seven carries and senior running back Rip McBee also showed out with 107 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Chaney and senior running back Dustin Stancil each got in for a score as well, giving the Broncos a commanding 46-0 lead at the half.

Holly Pond scored on all but one of its possessions in the opening half and held Asbury to just one first down. The Broncos made just one mistake in the half when they muffed a punt in the second quarter, but that was remedied by a 65-yard pick six from junior defensive back Isac Ludwig just one play later.

The coaches agreed to play with a 12-minute hot clock for the second half, stopping time only for injuries. The Broncos managed to put up one more score on a 50-yard pick six from freshman linebacker Jacob Holderfield.

Asbury did manage to get in the end zone once in the fourth on a 33-yard touchdown pass, but the lead for the Broncos was insurmountable and the clock ran out on a final score of 54-6.

The win moves Holly Pond to 4-1 this season including an undefeated record at home on Michelfelder Field. Next week will be homecoming week for the Broncos as they gear up to host Locust Fork and keep the home winning streak alive.
