CULLMAN – The Cullman County Sheriff's Office is hosting a free women's self-defense class Monday and Tuesday, July 17-18 at its new training facility. The class will be led by Deputy Chad Whaley, an 18-year CCSO veteran who has trained law enforcement officers throughout Cullman County.
The class, which will be held at 6 p.m. both nights, will focus on the Equalizer Self-Defense Program and deal with hands-on self-defense situations like muggings, assaults and more. Part one of the class will be Monday night and part two Tuesday night.
"I have said many times we at the Cullman County Sheriff's Office are advocates of our citizens having the knowledge and training they need to protect themselves," said Sheriff Matt Gentry. "Deputy Whaley is one the best at teaching self-defense techniques I have seen."
