WINSTON COUNTY – ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers reported an adult drowning on Smith Lake in Winston County on Monday. According to WBRC FOX6 News in Birmingham, the victim has been identified as Kenneth Claude Sampsell, 62.
Sampsell was a resident of Crane Hill.
Troopers say the incident occurred in the Rock Creek area of Smith Lake.
According to WBRC, the drowning happened at approximately 2:45 p.m. when Sampsell was swimming with family off a dock at a residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
