HOLLY POND – After a lengthy renovation, Holly Pond's namesake restaurant has reopened with a new look. While there are a few distinct differences, like new wall decorations and lighter paint, the food still has the same home-style taste that the community has come to love. The restaurant plans to have an official grand opening later in the summer, though hungry residents can still come by whenever they need a meal.

Michelle Bell, who runs the restaurant, was pleased with the café's performance after the opening. She talked about a recent rush of customers from Holly Pond High School's cheerleading camp, which helped fill the restaurant. Combined with several take-out orders that were called in, the kitchen was working overtime to keep up. Fortunately, she said, they pulled through for a successful day.

When asked about how the staff would handle the upcoming band camp and other on-campus summer programs, Bell mentioned that she would probably need to hire additional wait staff and kitchen workers. The service after reopening is quicker than it was before, which would make the café a good lunch option for students who would usually go to the nearby Jack's for their lunch hour.

Other changes that might be coming to the restaurant include an ice cream machine to cool down an overheated customer, and plans for sugar-free desserts for diabetics are in the works.

The Holly Pond Café is located at 10800 U.S. Highway 278 East in Holly Pond.
